Media and Information Education for the years (2020-2023)
The Ministry of Government Communication’s Administrative System No. 65 of 2022 defined the ministry’s tasks and jurisdiction with regards to the “dissemination of media and information education”.
The Goal & The Strategic Goal :
The Executive plan of the national initiative for the spread of media and information education for 2020-2023 aims at developing a programme to boost society's ability to deal with information and news sources, as well as digital technology tools. The initiative aims at shifting the common view of media education as a tool for protection and defense to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding, as a tool for empowerment, participation and innovation.
The Strategic goal of the plan is to incorporate the concepts and skills of media and information education into the Jordanian educational system at school and university levels, in addition to the inclusion of the activities of cultural, youth and civil society institutions and the spread of awareness in these institutions through the media.
The Plan aims to ensure the use of media and information education perspective as a tool for reforming education, improving its quality, developing national human resources and improving capabilities of Jordanian society, mainly the youth and family, in dealing with media outlets and sources of information including digital communication and social media platforms.
The Plan's adopted scope includes understanding media, contemporary communication, news and information literacy and digital citizenship to build public trust in order to combat rumor and disinformation. This perspective adheres to the principles of human rights, freedom of expression and gender equality. .png)
It is also designed to empower youth to counter harmful side-effects of media, digital media and social networks, which appear through unprofessional uses. It also aims to address inappropriate and harmful media content, including false news, rumors, hate speech and extremist and violent content.
The Goals of Executive plan of the national initiative 2020-2023 also include:

Supporting young people's freedom of expression, critical thinking, innovation and leadership to contribute to improving the capacities of Jordanian society.

Increased social integration and political, social and economic participation, support for "gender" equality within Jordanian society, as well as support for the Kingdom's efforts in the field of gender equality and closing the gap in women's political, social and economic participation.

Promote the concepts of human rights and freedoms among Jordanian youth and enable them to express themselves.

Ensure active democratic participation and promote the concept of digital citizenship.
