Dr. Mohammad Hussein Al-Momani is the former Secretary-General of the National Charter Party and a former member of the Jordanian Senate. He served as Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson from March 2013 to June 2018. During that period, he also chaired the boards of directors of the Jordan News Agency (Petra) and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV). In 2013, he concurrently served as Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs. Dr. Al-Momani previously served as Dean of the Jordan Media Institute, Chairman of the Board of the independent Al Ghad daily newspaper, and Chairman of the Board of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation. In 2021, he was selected as a member of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System.
Dr. Al-Momani taught courses on the American political system at the University of North Texas, as well as courses in political economy, comparative politics, international relations in the Middle East, democracy, and democratic transition at Rice University in Houston, United States. He also served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Yarmouk University and previously served as an advisor to two prime ministers. He also served as Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Yarmouk University, Deputy Dean of the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies at Yarmouk University, Executive Director of the Regional Center for Human Security, and Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Political Development.
Dr. Al-Momani served as Senior Policy Advisor and Deputy Director of the Legislative Strengthening Program at the Center for International Development at the State University of New York. He also worked as an adjunct lecturer at the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), Applied Science Private University, the Jordan Media Institute, and the Jordan Diplomatic Institute. At the Jordan Diplomatic Institute, he also served as Advisor to the President and Director of Training and Education.
Dr. Al-Momani previously served as a consultant for a comparative politics course under an international educational testing system in the United States. He has published several books, studies, and research papers in local and international academic journals and through international research centers. He has also received several grants and awards, including the Best Academic Achievement Award at the University of North Texas. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Affairs at the Jordan Diplomatic Institute.
Dr. Al-Momani has participated as a speaker in numerous local, regional, and international conferences and seminars on political and strategic affairs. He is a member of the International Affairs Association and the Jordanian Political Science Association, on whose board he previously served. He is also a former member of the Board of the Jordan Diplomatic Institute and has been a member of the American Political Science Association and the International Studies Association. He also serves as a board member of the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service. In addition, he is a columnist for the Jordanian daily newspaper Al Ghad and formerly produced and presented the program Current Affairs (Qadaya Al-Sa’ah) on Jordan Radio.
