Welcome Message

The Ministry of Government Communication welcomes visitors and followers to its official website and provides them with a detailed overview of the Ministry’s work, establishment, and diverse programs.

Jordan has undertaken a series of reforms arising from the political and economic modernization frameworks. It was therefore necessary to complete the reform process by extending it to the public sector and modernizing public administration, which serves as a key driver of all reform efforts. Accordingly, the Public Sector Modernization Committee was formed, and one of its most important recommendations was the establishment of the Ministry of Government Communication, representing the first practical step in implementing Jordan’s Public Sector Modernization Roadmap.

On 16 November 2022, the Administrative Organization Bylaw of the Ministry of Government Communication No. 65 of 2022 was published in the Official Gazette. Under the Bylaw, the Ministry was tasked with formulating a general policy for media and government communication based on the provisions of the Jordanian Constitution as a safeguard for freedom of expression and as a means of strengthening the democratic approach and political pluralism.

Based in Shmeisani, Amman, the Ministry, through the Minister of Government Communication, the Secretary-General, its directorates, and its units, works to strengthen the role of the media in countering rumors, hate speech, and violations of privacy. It also promotes the public’s right to professional and objective media that respect reason, truth, human dignity, and freedom.

The Ministry informs the public about government policies, plans, programs, policy directions, and legislation under preparation, and encourages dialogue on these matters. In light of the transformations of the digital age, the Ministry implements and promotes media and information literacy, produces digital content, fosters national awareness, raises citizens’ awareness of their rights and duties, and reinforces the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of law.

The Ministry’s functions also include strengthening the role of national media in defending the supreme interests of the State and upholding the values of Arabism and Islam. It also develops plans to implement and follow up on the government communication policy and provides media outlets with essential information concerning the government and state institutions.

The Ministry provides technical support to media spokespersons in various ministries and government departments, builds their capacity, and enhances their performance, thereby ensuring the smooth flow of information to the media and its continuous provision from original sources. It also conveys a positive image of the Kingdom abroad, follows up on international media studies, research, and reports, and maintains an information base on government policies.
