Royal Vision for Media

 

Building a modern Jordanian media system that serves as a cornerstone for achieving the political, economic, social, and cultural development we seek; aligns with the policy of economic and social openness pursued by Jordan; and keeps pace with global developments.

Developing a new vision for Jordanian national media that embraces the spirit of the age, serves the objectives of the Jordanian State, expresses the nation’s conscience and identity across all its components and segments, reflects its will and aspirations, and enables national media outlets to compete with other media outlets.

 

Pillars of the Royal Media Vision:

First: Building Media for a Modern State, based on the following:

  • Encouraging pluralism and respect for differing opinions by presenting diverse viewpoints in a climate of independence and responsible freedom.
  • Reflecting the nation in all its components and diversity and expressing its will and aspirations.
  • Promoting media performance based on professionalism, excellence, creativity, and responsible freedom.

 

Second: Supporting the Independence of Media Institutions and Their Management through:

  • Ensuring the independence of the management of media institutions.
  • Ensuring the independence of institutional media decisions.
  • Opening the way for private-sector participation in media ownership.
  • Enabling media institutions to perform their oversight role in society within a climate of responsible freedom, independence, and advanced professionalism.

 

Third: Advancing the Professional Dimension of Media Work and Promoting High Professional Standards through:

  • Developing media codes of ethics.
  • Guiding the development of professional media work through training, qualification, and specialization.
  • Reviewing media, press, and investment legislation pertaining to journalism and media.
  • Keeping pace with contemporary technological and technical developments.
