The Administrative Organization Bylaw of the Ministry of Government Communication No. 65 of 2022 was published in Official Gazette No. 5825 dated 16/11/2022. The bylaw defined the mandates and powers of the Ministry.
The Ministry of Government Communication has the following main functions:

Formulating a general policy on media and government communication based on the following principles:
a. Adherence to the provisions of the Constitution to ensure freedom of expression and to strengthen the democratic approach and political pluralism.
b. Enhancing the role of national media in defending the supreme interests of the State and upholding the authentic values of Jordanian society.
c. Protecting the plurality and diversity of media outlets and strengthening their role in line with the applicable legislation.
d. Promoting the public’s right to professional and objective media that respect reason, truth, human dignity, and freedom.
e. Raising citizens’ awareness of their rights, duties and reinforcing the principles of equality, justice, and the rule of law.

Developing the plans and programs necessary to implement the general policy on media and government communication, and supervising and following up on their implementation.

Providing essential information related to the government and state institutions to various media and communication outlets, and strengthening cooperative relations with them.

Preparing media materials related to government activities and national events, in cooperation and coordination with government media institutions.

Providing technical support to government spokespersons in ministries, departments, and government institutions, building their capacity, and enhancing their performance.

Promoting media and information literacy.

Addressing rumors, hate speech, and violations of privacy.

Conveying a positive image of the Kingdom abroad in cooperation with the relevant entities.

Organizing government media events in coordination with the relative entities.

Following up on studies, reports, and research related to the Kingdom, and proposing ways of addressing them in the media.

Informing the public about government policies, plans, programs, policy directions, and legislation under preparation, and encouraging the expression of opinions and constructive dialogue concerning them.
